The Crucero Australis has everything you need on board. We are talking about a first class service, in every sense and in every corner of the boat…

    14 de January, 2021

The Australis Cruise has everything you need on board, not in vain it has been catalogued as a “luxury expedition“. This navigation through the Patagonian fjords is a fascinating mix between adventure and first class service. Although the essence is the exploration on lowered boats, the ship is perfect for a dream trip.

There are two ships, Stella Australis and Ventus Australis. Don’t worry, whichever trip you choose you will find comfort, quality and exclusivity without losing the majestic views of nature that Chile and Argentina, between Tierra del Fuego and Southern Patagonia, provide us.

It is an expedition cruise, thus every corner of the ship has glass windows that show us the surroundings of the navigation route. The maximum capacity per boat is 200 people, for a total of 100 cabins; also with exterior view.

As you can see, they are small ships compared to those used for Caribbean cruises; but they are specially designed and built to navigate through the narrow channels of Tierra del Fuego, reaching where others cannot. Both Stella and Ventus were built with resistant material and the necessary tonnage to ensure stability and firmness.

When it comes to equipment, each Crucero Australis vessel has the latest technology. In addition, they were carefully decorated. There are 5 decks, among which are distributed the cabins, salons, bar and restaurants. Let’s see!

     PATAGONIA CRUISE AUSTRALIS DINING ROOM

On the lower deck, the first level of the ship, we can find the Patagonia Dining Room. Fully glazed, this space has tables for 4, 6 and 8 people; guaranteeing timely and exclusive service to each and every one of the passengers. Yes, there is capacity for everyone to be served at the same time.

Crucero Australis includes the entire food system; local and international cuisine and open bar from 10:00 a.m. to 00:00 a.m. We are talking about dinner –a menu with two options–, special meals according to requirements, wines, liquors and beverages.

As for the gastronomy, you must know that it is of first international level; emphasizing the native delights of the region: red fruits, cheeses, fish and the unlosable Patagonian Lamb. Its dishes are exquisite and able to satisfy the most demanding palates. In this sense, Crucero Australis has locally and internationally recognized wine cellars, without forgetting the exclusive brands of champagne and whiskey.

The dinner, a la carte, is a four course meal, offering appetizers, consommé, main dish and dessert. Meanwhile, breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet, a “star” service of the cruise that may be modified this season (starting in December), understanding the preventive measures to be taken after the pandemic triggered by the outbreak of Covid-19. The open bar, on the other hand, offers unlimited cocktails, wines, beers, whiskeys and champagne; for all passengers over 18 years of age.

CABINS VARY IN SIZE, BUT NOT IN QUALITY OF SERVICE

Distributed between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th decks, the cabins are divided into 3 categories: A, AA, and AAA. The difference between each one is in the square meters and the size of the glass window; the service is still the same.

Crucero Australis does not make any difference between the passengers, all of them have the same attention, amenities and equipment; they have access to the same areas, gastronomy and activities inside and outside the ship.

There are rooms with a double bed, a queen size bed and the possibility of adding a cradle. The excursions that are made on this expedition cruise do not require physical difficulties and demands, since it is also considered by family groups with children. The exploration activities can be carried out from 4 years of age and on.

3 LOUNGES AND 1 OUTDOOR DECK

Stella and Ventus have three lounges distributed between the 3rd, 4th and 5th deck. The latter, the upper one, is open and shares space with the Darwin Lounge which houses the bar. This means that the passengers can go out to take pictures and have a drink outdoors, like in the terrace of their home, but with the majestic fuegian nature in the background.

On the 4th floor is the Skype Lounge, which shares space with the cafeteria where early morning coffee breaks are held at 5 am. Thus, they get ready for breakfast at 8 am. Meanwhile, the 3rd level of the ship houses the Yámana Lunge with the board games area.

All these rooms have the necessary audiovisual equipment for the talks and activities on board. In fact, in the Darwin and Skype lounges, training is held prior to each activity, simultaneously through groups that are divided by language, English and Spanish.

The Crucero Australís has bilingual guides who are experts in the natural history of the Magallanes region, glaciology, flora and fauna; guiding us into each activity before getting into the virgin landscapes of Patagonia. The expedition goes beyond knowing nature, it is knowledge. Thus, you will be able to enjoy to the maximum each place to explore.

    ZODIAC BOAT DESCENTS

For the excursions, we lower on the zodiac boats that allow us easy access to the remote but imposing places that are among the fjords that connect Tierra del Fuego with Southern Patagonia.

There is nothing to worry about! It is a safe means of transportation with the appropriate safety measures. The Zodiac boats are resistant dinghies filled with a special gas: they have their own engine and are led by an expert who will take them to the right place. This is how Australis gets to where others cannot!
