    Mar Patag Cruise expedition Cruise!

Mar Patag Cruise, a three-day, two-night expedition that takes us into the fascinating glaciers of El Calafate through the most exclusive experience

    15 de December, 2020

The Patagonian Ice Field is the largest on the planet after Antarctica. Can you imagine living among its glaciers for three days? Without a doubt, it is a majestic experience and you can make it with the Mar Patag Cruise. An expedition that will take you to the imposing Spegazzini, Uppsala and, of course, Perito Moreno on a stage like no other, intimate and of deep beauty!

It’s not about any lake walk. We are talking about an incomparable natural spectacle behind the perfect combination of forests, lakes, mountains, ice and steppe, in the middle of an exclusive, private and select cruise even outside the boat! The Captain tries to reach the most famous glaciers at less crowded times.

But that’s not all. This adventure through Los Glaciares National Park takes place aboard the Santa Cruz Cruise, specially designed for this luxury expedition. From there, that one of its peculiarities is the high level of gastronomy offered here: gourmet dishes that the Executive Chef has created for the most exquisite and demanding palates

COMFORT AND EXCLUSIVITY FOR A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE

In short, the Mar Patag Cruiser lives up to the Patagonian place because comfort in each of its spaces is paramount. The maximum number of passengers on board is 40, for a total of 20 exterior double cabins, each with private bathroom. Deck in stern and bow, and main deck over the living room. Its air-conditioned rooms and the high-tech kitchen are perfectly equipped. It has a restaurant, library, Living & Bar. Full board with alcoholic beverages is included during meals. During navigation only non-alcoholic beverages and infusions.

EXPEDITION THREE DAYS AND TWO NIGHTS IN HIGH SEASON!

The three-day, two-night expedition takes place only in high season, as is the rest of the Mar Patag programs. To give you a more accurate reference we share the itinerary:

    •         Day 1 Santa Cruz Cruise

We board at 17:00 hs in Puerto Privado La Soledad (where the landing is also made). It is a quiet bay (Punta Band), from where the expedition begins with a navigation to German Bay. There is located the Cow Post where we will disembark the first night. It’s a magical and picturesque place with fields where the ancient settlers had their stays and livestock, even some cows are still found! There we had dinner and spend the first night.

    •  Day 2 Santa Cruz CruiseAfter breakfast, we set out to take a nice and interesting walk to the first viewpoint of the Spegazzini Glacier. This is the first meeting of passengers with the ice monument, whose forehead reaches 135 meters above sea level. We have lunch and sail along the fascinating lakes to the Uppsala Glacier that covers the entire valley, with an approximate area of 765 km2. At night, we disembark in Bahía Toro-Seno Mayo. That’s where we have dinner and rest.
    • Day 3 Santa Cruz CruiseIt’s the last day of the expedition. We have breakfast and resume the adventure with landing to hike in Andean Forest-Patagonian to the little visited and known Mayo Glacier, where we have the privilege of arriving by boat. There is no arrival pier, it’s like a stone shore. There we get off and take a little walk that brings us closer to the frozen monument. Afterwards, the Navigation to Los Témpanos Canal is started towards the Perito Moreno Glacier.Once in Puerto Moreno, we disembark for lunch and make the must-see walk along Las Pasarelas. It’s a three-level viewpoint that shows us the north arm of the Perito Moreno glacier and the spectacle that represent its ruptures, a natural monument in constant advance.

Without a doubt, a place to “close with a brooch”, this activity that culminates, officially, with a toast between the Captain and the crew of his boat, happy to have shared the most beautiful of the experiences that can be lived in El Calafate, “The Land of Glaciers”.

Don’t worry about the walks, they don’t have any difficulty and therefore don’t demand much experience. They are basic level and, in the case of hiking to El Glaciar Mayo, we provide you with everything you need: canes and lifeguards.

Before each landing, a reading is made with information about the activities to be carried out in two languages; English and Spanish. The guides are bilingual so you will have no problems in case of doubt, even less to communicate.
