Like any province, Jujuy has a gem. It is Salinas Grandes, a white sea of glass turned into the third largest salt flat in South America with an area of more than 12,000 hectares. Without a doubt, a fascinating scene that you cannot miss if you travel to this Argentine province

Located 4,000 meters above sea level, it is approximately 5 to 10 million years old, when the basin was completely covered with waters coming from a volcano.

The formation of this site was the product of the gradual evaporation of water and its components, resulting in an average thickness of 30 centimeters.

But that is not all. In addition to common salt, deposits of borates originated in the salt flats and their surroundings. They are salts that have metallic elements and have very useful properties for the manufacture of atomic reactors and missiles, thanks to their low density and extreme hardness.
