    22 de January, 2021

In case you don’t know yet, one of the Seven Wonders of the World is divided between two countries, Argentina and Brazil. We are talking about a fascinating natural monument wherever way you see it, but with the peculiarity of giving us two different attractions. It all depends on the territory where you are! So, let’s see what Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side offer you.

It’s a must if you want to know The Falls. Indeed, you will access the Iguazu National Park, whose dimension is fascinating. We are talking about almost 68,000 hectares and 275 waterfalls, with a height ranging from 60 to 82 meters. The average water flow rate is 1800 cubic meters per second. In order for you to have a more accurate reference than what we are telling you, you should know that the most impressive waterfall is named “Devil’s Throat”… Well, just imagine that. It is 82 meters high, 150 meters wide and 700 meters long.

With a total of 2.7 kilometers wide that include the Brazilian territory, two thirds of the Iguazu Falls are located on the Argentine side, giving us a chance to get much closer to the waterfalls. However, the best panoramic view is obtained from the Brazilian side. Click on the link and discover the importance of making the visit from both spaces!

HOW TO ACCESS IGUAZU NATIONAL PARK

To enter Iguazu National Park you must buy an entrance pass. There is a differential price for residents, Argentinians and mercosur citizens, so it is essential to present the ID or passport at the time of purchasing the access ticket.

This magical place has sanitary facilities in strategic points. In addition, it has sectors that allow easy access to people with reduced mobility, also offering the possibility of lunch or getting some snack in the foodie patio.

Among the services of the Park you can find: parking, kiosk, baby stroller rental, playground, ATM, locker rental and errand shop, among others. See, beyond fun, the place has everything you need for a trip with kids too!

As for the schedule, we must inform you that Iguazu National Park is open every day of the year from 8:00 to 18:00. Nevertheless, entry is enabled until 16:30. Any day is good to visit the Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side.

TIPS FOR EXPLORING IGUAZU NATIONAL PARK

While it is easy to explore, the extension of Iguazu National Park is significant, as we always recommend splitting the visit into two days. This way, you can explore it more calmly, especially if you are traveling with children. Take advantage and look at our article about traveling with boys to Iguazu. Depending on the above, this place offers 50% discount for the second day of visit.

Another suggestion is to go early to take advantage of the day and the best hours of sunlight, especially in winter when it gets dark faster. Similarly, the visit is worth it all year round. Whatever the time, going early is a great option because there are fewer tourists and you can discover every corner of the park with more tranquility and comfort.

Once on the site, it is advised to take the train to “Devil’s Throat”, the last station, as it is one of the places where visitors accumulate the most and, therefore, the wait could be a little long. The sooner you arrive, the less you’ll have to wait to board the train. Back, you’ll be able to do the rest of the park tours with no biggie.

As for the accessories you should take to the Park, we should mention a towel and a change of extra clothes. Remember, you’ll be more than on board to try the waterfalls. Getting wet is part of the fun, but we understand that there are those who prefer to avoid it. In that case we recommend carrying a raincoat. Also, you can’t forget about sunscreen, insect repellent and sunglasses. The footwear should be comfortable, non-slip and waterproof.

Finally, it is appropriate to emphasize the importance of avoiding interaction with the animals of the Park (not even to feed them). As tender as they may seem, monkeys and coatí can become aggressive if they dislike something.

ACTIVITIES TO DO ON THE ARGENTINE SIDE OF THE FALLS

In Iguazu National Park there are several trails to explore. In fact, you may not be able to tour them all, but hey! Don’t worry about it! Let’s mention the highlights, so you can consider some.

Devil’s Throat is a must-see as it’s the most impressive and famous cascade of Iguazu Falls. It can be easily accessed by taking the train to the last station that bears the same name and, from there, by walkways.

This train travels at 20 km per hour and during the tour it is common to observe majestic animals in the area. Central Station, which is closest to the park entrance, has a service area.

The Cataract Station is the access point to the upper and lower circuits. The first consists of going through the walkways, a magical path with fascinating views of the Iguazu River through cascades such as Adam and Eve, Bernabé Méndez, Dos Hermanas, Bosetti, Mbiguá and San Martín. The second gives us the opportunity to look at the waterfalls from below and so close that it is impossible not to get wet.

Beyond the falls of water is the Green Path. It’s a walk through the subtropical jungle that runs through the service area to The Falls Station. It is perfect for those who want to see monkeys, coatíes and birds, as they abound in this area.

If you are looking for more adventure and adrenaline, there is an optional excursion called Gran Aventura, a ride aboard a 4×4 vehicle that enters the missionary jungle to walk the Yacaratiá and Puerto Macucu trails.

In the meantime, the Macuco Trail invites you on an adventure that ends in the fantastic water well of Salto Arrechea. There is a 2-hour trekking and 6 interpretive stations on the biodiversity of the area.
