Argentina
Opening of the borders in Argentina
On October 1st, the borders in Argentina will be opened. This is part of the Government’s easing measures on restrictions due to the Pandemic.

Those who wish to travel to neighboring countries by land will be able to do so, without setbacks and legally, as of October 1st, 2021. It happens that, as part of the flexibility measures that the National Government decided to apply to the restrictions health services due to the Pandemic, the opening of the borders in Argentina will be carried out.
This was announced by the Staff Chief, Juan Manzur, during a press conference headed by the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, to announce the reopening of activities that were paralyzed after the global outbreak of Covid-19. A scenario that is possible thanks to the decrease in cases and the progress of the vaccination:
“We are in a moment of a sustained decline in coronavirus cases” said the health representative, who affirmed and applauded the fact that Argentina ‘has been successful in containing the entry of the Delta variant’.
After the aforementioned, Manzur dared to assure that “if the numbers continue like this, we can say that we are passing the end of the Pandemic.” But, what does the measures include for now? How is the state of the border crossings between the Republic and neighboring countries?
BORDER CROSSINGS BETWEEN ARGENTINA AND NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES REOPENED
Beyond lifting restrictions (such as the mandatory use of face masks in open-air places and without crowds of people), there are advances for the tourism sector.
In fact, as it was announced during the conference held at the Casa Rosada, the ministries of Health, Tourism, Sports, Interior, Security and Chancellery are working with authorities of the 24 jurisdictions, Legal and Technical, to make from 1st of October into effect:
- The authorization for the entry of foreigners from neighboring countries without isolation.
- Opening of land borders, making use of safe corridors (approved by the health authority) with a quota defined by capacity, according to each jurisdiction.
- Progressive increase of the quota, between October 1st and November 1st, in all “safe corridors”, airports, ports and land.
All this within the framework of an Administrative Decision (DA), through the renewal of the DNU and the DA of borders.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ENTRY OF FOREIGNERS AS OF NOVEMBER 1st
Regarding the authorization for the entry of foreigners from the rest of the world, which will take effect from November 1st, the following will be requested:
- Complete vaccination schedule. The last dose must have been applied at least 14 days before arriving in the country.
- Negative PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to shipment. Another alternative is the antigen test at the point of entry (until defined by the health authority).
- PCR between 5 and 7 years after arriving in the country.
- Those who do not present a complete vaccination scheme must perform quarantine, antigen test upon admission, and PCR test on day 7 (applies to minors).
- Once 50% of the population has been vaccinated, the antigen test will no longer be performed upon admission (except for those not vaccinated) and PCR on day 5-7. In the same way, the quota will be lifted. The goal is to minimize the impact of increased hospitalizations and deaths.
