HISTORY OF TULIPS IN PATAGONIAN SOIL

To close this article, it is worth delving into the history of the protagonists of this attraction. How did tulips reach Patagonian soil? Although they are originally from Turkey, this beautiful flower entered the Netherlands in 1559 (from the Ottoman Empire where they adorned the costumes of the sultans). From there, they spread throughout the planet hand in hand with the navigators. This is how it comes to this place in the Argentine Patagonia.

It was 20 years ago that a renowned family in Trevel started this floral venture with the cultivation of three million bulbs per season. The plantation has Triumph and Darwin tulips among which you will find about 30 beautiful and intense colors.

The task begins with the sowing in April (through a machine), and in the first week of October you can see it blooming (locals and foreigners delight in the colorful landscape). By November the flower is cut giving way to the formation of the bulb (which is sold for ornamental purposes), and between December and February the harvest is carried out (much of it by hand).
